There are numerous playgrounds and sports fields in and around Mayrhofen. Some are located beside the hiking trails along the river or hidden in the shady forests. For even more action, numerous adventure clubs offer activities tailored to both children and adults.
Evening events abound throughout the year, whether you're looking forward to local Zillertal music, relaxing in an exclusive wine tavern, or celebrating après-ski after a challenging day on the slopes...
In the heart of it all
A village in the center
Mayrhofen is one of the most famous vacation destinations in all of Austria, and perhaps even in the Alps. Here, the Zillertal splits into four smaller valleys - the so-called "Gründe": Zillergrund, Stillup, Zemmgrund, and Tux. Deeply cut into the Zillertal main ridge, which also forms the backdrop of the Zillertal Nature Park.
Along the shopping street, you will find bars, pubs, cafes, and restaurants, mountain shops, ski rental, grocery stores, shops for this and that, banks, doctors, hairdressers, bakeries - basically everything you could wish for. The congress center offers daily changing events - concerts, traditional evenings, comedy shows, lectures, and more.
Nature and culture
A thousand possibilities
Mayrhofen is the gateway to the Zillertal Alps and offers an incredible range of activities for your stay. However, if you simply want to enjoy the beautiful nature in the surrounding area, there are countless options available.
You can drive up the Zillertal High Road, which takes you high above the valley, to enjoy the magnificent view. Or you can explore the dams in Zillergrund, Stillup or Schlegeis - all surrounded by stunning landscapes. The highest point that can be reached without climbing is the panoramic terrace at the Hintertux Glacier at 3,250m. In the surrounding valleys and in many huts, you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes and live music while admiring the stunning scenery.
Bars, events, festivals
After a long day on the slopes or hiking trails, an extensive evening program awaits you.
